Kevin Brown, Chief Executive Officer

Kevin is an accomplished entrepreneur and executive, with experience in the networking, storage, security, and virtualization sectors. Most recently, he served as President and CEO of Kidaro, a desktop virtualization software vendor, where he led the team to a leadership position in this emerging segment. Kidaro was acquired by Microsoft in May 2008 and incorporated as a key element of Windows virtualization.

Prior to joining Kidaro, Kevin served as a vice president on the original executive team of storage security vendor Decru, where he led worldwide marketing, business development, and product management. Following the acquisition of Decru by Network Appliance, Kevin stayed on as a vice president and helped the company achieve #1 market share and global adoption across the financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, manufacturing, and government sectors. As one of the leading experts on storage security, he served as an advisor to the U.S. Congress, Federal Trade Commission, and U.S. Department of Defense. Previously, Kevin was a key member of the founding team of Inktomi, a pioneering infrastructure software firm, where he served in a number of executive positions, including Vice President and General Manager of Inktomi's networking business. Kevin is as a Fellow at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, Lester Center for Entrepreneurship, and earned his Bachelor's and MBA degrees at UC Berkeley, where he served as MBA class president.


Brantley Coile, Chief Technology Officer & Founder

Brantley brings over 30 years of technical and managerial experience with a range of technology companies and research institutions including Network Translation, Cisco Systems, Adaptive, Digital Transmission Systems, AT&T Bell Laboratories and the University of Georgia. He has an extensive background in designing communications protocols and operating systems for telephony applications and Internet infrastructure technologies.

In 1994, Brantley co-founded Network Translation, Inc. where he created the PIX Firewall appliance that created a new class of data communication firewalls utilizing stateful packet inspection. Cisco Systems acquired Network Translation and the Cisco PIX™ Firewall, generating multi-billion dollar sales since its launch, became the industry standard appliance firewall. Within a year of the release of the PIX™, Brantley and his team designed, developed and introduced the industry's first Server Load Balancer, the Cisco LocalDirector™, spawning a multi-vendor industry that continues to thrive.

Brantley left Cisco and in 2000 he founded Coraid to design and develop innovative network storage devices. At Coraid, he created the ATA-over-Ethernet (AoE) open lightweight network storage protocol that is the basis of the EtherDrive family of SAN products. He is an alumnus of the Computer Science Department at the University of Georgia and a Commercial Pilot.


Carl Wright, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Carl is a seasoned entrepreneur and executive with experience in the security, storage, and software sectors. Carl previously served as Vice President of Sales and Corporate Strategy at Kidaro, where he helped lead the company to a successful early market position in the desktop virtualization sector, and acquisition by Microsoft. Prior to that, Carl served as Vice President of Federal Operations for Decru, which was acquired by Network Appliance, where he established Decru's storage security platform as the standard in the U.S. Department of Defense and intelligence community, and accelerated adoption throughout sectors including financial services, healthcare, and the F500. Before that, Carl held the role of Vice President of Federal Operations at Securify (acquired by Secure Computing).

Prior to his executive roles in infrastructure technology firms, Carl served as Chief Information Security Officer for the U.S. Marine Corps. As CISO, Carl was responsible for the day-to-day operation and global defense of the Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN), which scaled to support over 120,000 users worldwide. In 1999, he was awarded the National Security Agency's Frank B. Rowlett Trophy for worldwide Information Security Professional of the year. Carl has a BS in Management from Augsburg College and a MS in Information Technology Management from the Naval Post Graduate School.


Anil Virmani, Senior Vice President of Engineering

Anil joins Coraid with over 20 years of enterprise hardware and software development expertise. Prior to Coraid, Anil was vice president of engineering at Juniper Systems, responsible for edge routing platforms (M/MX series) and Junos Software, growing the business to over $1 billion.

Prior to that, Anil led engineering teams at Stratus Computers building hardware fault-tolerant servers and high availability features. Anil has a history of success in building innovative products and leading highly effective engineering teams. Anil graduated the Institute of Technology, BHU, with a degree in Computer Science.


Josh Leslie, Vice President North American Sales

Josh is a seasoned sales and business development executive with a proven track record in the virtualization and storage industries. Most recently he served as Sr. Director, Desktop Business Development for VMware’s Desktop Business Unit where he structured and signed key partnerships cementing VMware’s place as a leader in the desktop virtualization space. Previous to this role, Josh served in a variety of Sales and Sales Management roles at VMware where he was a key contributor helping the Company scale from $100M to $1.5B in less than five years. Before that, Josh was a field sales representative for CommVault Systems, Inc.

Previous to Josh’s operating roles, he served as an Associate for UBS Securities as a member of their Technology Investment Banking Group. In this role, Josh advised technology company executives on equity and debt financings, M&A, and corporate restructuring. Josh holds a B.A. from UC Berkeley and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School. 


John Gilmartin, Vice President of Product Marketing

John is a seasoned product marketing executive with experience in the virtualization and enterprise computing industries.  Before joining Coraid, John led product marketing for VMware’s Virtualization and Cloud Platforms Business Unit and Private Cloud Computing initiative.  Prior to that role, John led the product marketing team for VMware’s virtualization platform, VMware vSphere, developing go-to-market, partnering, and pricing strategies that helped grow the business to over $1B in license revenue.  In earlier roles, John served as a brand manager for enterprise servers at Dell, Inc., and as a strategy consultant at Marakon Associates advising clients on corporate and business unit strategy.  John holds a B.S.E from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.


Doug Dooley, Vice President of Product Management

Doug is an accomplished technology executive and business leader, with experience in the networking, security, and virtualization sectors. Doug brings more than 16 years of technology industry experience to his role as vice president of product management for Coraid. Prior to Coraid, Doug was a product management executive leader for Cisco Systems responsible for the definition, development, and delivery of a complete Desktop Virtualization solution for customers consisting of Data Center, Borderless Network, Collaboration, and End-user device elements. Prior to his role at Cisco, he was vice president of marketing and product management at virtual desktop startup, RingCube Technologies acquired by Citrix Systems. Prior to RingCube, he was a director of technical and product marketing at Juniper Networks reporting to the Enterprise General Manager owning P&L for multiple product lines delivering more than $500M USD of annual product revenue in security and networking. Prior to Juniper, Doug held various management, engineering, sales, and marketing roles at Inktomi, Intel Corporation, and Nortel Networks.
